The squad is optimistic, particularly after the good news of Barcelona's defeat last night in the King's Cup semifinals against Getafe. Today, the players held their final session prior to their match against Espanyol tomorrow at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. Fabio Capello put the finishing touches on his team's game in a very tactical session. Gago and Guti trained aside to recover from some mild niggles.
Every Madridista had a smile on his face after Getafe's 4-0 victory against Barcelona last night at the Coliseo Stadium, eliminating the Catalan side from the King's Cup and going through to the final at the Santiago Bernabéu on 23 June. The Whites are aware of the bad spell Barcelona are going through and the defeat could demoralise the Catalans, giving Betis chances of winning at Camp Nou this weekend. Nevertheless, Real Madrid must only think about themselves and Fabio Capello reminded them of this in his briefing. Excitement is ever-growing as Real Madrid have the chance of becoming leaders this weekend if they defeat Espanyol tomorrow at home and Barcelona drop points against Betis.

| The Whites feel no pressure. All the players are relaxed, focused and motivated to win tomorrow. The squad's Brazilians, Argentinians and Sevillians warmed up by playing piggy-in-the-middle this morning, while Mejía, Pavón and Torres played two-on-one against Iker Casillas on goal. All this was followed by stretching and warm up exercises to prepare for tactical work.
Fernando Gago jogged aside with recovery expert José Luís San Martín. They were soon joined by Guti, who felt a niggle on one of his hamstrings. He and Fabio Capello decided it would be better for the player to train aside also to avoid straining the muscle. Despite the niggle, the playmaker has made the squad list for tomorrow's match.
Winning tomorrow would give the Whites their fifth consecutive home victory, after defeating Nastic, Osasuna, Valencia and Sevilla, respectively. Four more games will follow in this exciting final stretch of the championship.
